A Little Info About Winter Park Softball Winter Park Optimist Softball is a quality fast pitch softball program for young ladies that reside in the New Hanover County, North Carolina. Winter Park Optimist is a non-profit organization. With over 300 players, Winter Park Optimist is one of the largest fast pitch organizations in Southeastern North Carolina. The purpose of this league is to teach girls ages 5 to 18 the skills required to play fast pitch softball while having fun. Winter Park Optimist strives to develop in its players a sense of self esteem, pride and sportsmanship, confidence, motivation and leadership. The league also sponsors various softball tournament teams and clinics to help improve the quality of softball in Southeastern North Carolina. T-ball, Machine pitch, Minor, Major & Junior Leagues. Minor, Major & Junior Leagues are fast pitch. Winter Park Optimist softball programs are affiliated with Amateur Softball Association of America and PONY Softball. Winter Park Softball is played at the Jack Rasberry Softball Complex off 41st Street behind Hoggard High school. The Jack Rasberry softball complex has three fields; O'Shields, Evans & Rudolph; each with 200 foot outfield fences. This location also has a full service concession stand and bathrooms. All fields have open, handicap accessible press boxes with public address systems. The O'Shields Field (#1) is used by Hoggard High School Softball team from February to May. All of the fields are use by Winter Park Optimist Softball from the months of March to October for a spring / summer season and a fall ball programs.
